There is a peace, both now and then,
The latter built, the former given; And while with sharpened, biting tongue You seek the "built," I've not begun Within my mind to muster might Without the "given" my delight; For we, right now, if peaceably, Enact an eschatology That builds in patience labored peace That makes the given grow, not cease; So let the teeth the biting do, And not the tongue 'tween me and you.
